Where to Eat in Phuket
Fuji Japanese Restaurant
Often the most enjoyable meals are over some dishes shared with friends or alone after some sightseeing or shopping. A way to relax and rest the tired feet? Add a medley of seafood and other exotic items in a venue of smart and contemporary surroundings and what you have is a truly satisfying dining experience.

Fuji at Jungceylon, Patong’s newest shopping destination, combines these elements nicely into a package. A quick bite on the run or a leisurely lunch? Fuji’s tempting sushis, sashimis, salads and cooked items all freshly prepared in the open kitchen make for not just a pleasant stop but one that won’t break your budget. Booth seating encourages the delight of trying of delicacies using chopsticks as utensils, Japanese style, from the centre of the table and a simple yet elegant décor of granite floors and delicately painted glass give the restaurant that modern touch.

The menu holds a vast array of exotic items, with equally appealing names, which, fortunately for many diners, hold colourful photos beside each to excite and ultimately, to make the decision process easier. If you’re shy about Japanese food, with a little finger pointing and recommendations from the helpful staff, there is a varied selection of dishes to be enjoyed.

Brilliant colours of various shapes and sizes soon arrived at our table. The Miso and Tamago Wakame Soups were light as was the Maguro Tataki, a tuna and vegetable salad served Thai style. The Caterpillar Roll, glazed with a brown sauce was filled with fresh avocados and other delectable items. Similarly, the Maguro Avocado Mentai Sauce, maguro topped with avocado and mentai sauce, was also pleasing in its appearance and taste. A grand welcome to the table was the Sashimi Deluxe, a mix of strips of fresh seafood – salmon, maguro, yellow tail, sea bass, sweet shrimp, scallops, octopus and crab sticks – arranged on a boat, which held delights of tastes and textures from the sea.

For dessert, we enjoyed the Chocolate Pudding and Macha Pudding, a green tea wedge topped with a red bean sauce – treats with a Japanese flair.

With a vast selection of light and healthy quality yet inexpensive items to choose from, a treasure of delights awaits you. Fast and friendly service in a casual setting makes Fuji perfect for a leisurely stop.
