Book a table in a naturally-lit alcove overlooking the pool and the Sino-Portuguese inspired facade of the resort, groove to the tunes of a live trio band, put on your checkered apron (cute touch to prevent food droppings from soiling your clothes) and get read to tuck into an immense feast of tastes.
All the dishes served at The Grande Indian Brunch are impressive. Prepared by skilled chefs from both northern and southern India, the food is light, fresh and 100% authentic. Creative presentation, vibrant tableware and excellent service from the staff truly make The Grande Indian Brunch an outstanding dining experience.
I attended The Grande Indian Brunch with a group of friends, which afforded the opportunity to order mix and match dishes from the menu. Trust me, we ended up devouring everything that was placed on the table.
Highlights of the menu include the street food favourite Pani Puri from the Chaat Trolley as well as the Bombay Bhel Poori. For Brunch Bites, make sure to try the Indian Chicken Tikka Eggs Benedict with Curry Hollandaise as well as the Lamb Mince Masala Egg Shakshuka with Feta. The latter is absolutely outstanding. The lamb is so unbelievably tender and overall, the dish has the perfect amount of spice. It’s rich, creamy and wonderfully decadent.
Each of the main plates are fantastic, but recommendations include the Dal Makhni, the Phuket Lobster Mailee with coconut curry, and Lamb Chop Rogan Josh. For those looking for an authentic Indian recipe, do make sure to try Mom’s Prawn Curry. Biryani is offered with chicken or vegetables, and the Tandoori Breads are unlimited. Note that the Chili Cheese Kulcha is to die for!
The dessert options are all fresh and full of flavour, concocted from local fruit. The Nam Dok Mai Mango Shrikhand Tart with fresh berries is a refreshing way to end this excellent brunch experience.
The Grande Indian Brunch really is not to be missed. It’s a wonderful alternative to the normal seafood brunches on the island, and the creativity and dedication that goes into each outstanding Indian dish is evident by their presentation and myriad of flavours.
